The length of the railway track Subotica (freight) – Horgoš – state border with Hungary is 27.90 km – from km 1+269.84 (end of exit switch No.12a at Subotica Freight Station) to km 27+897.04 (state border). The project aims to achieve a technical level and traffic quality according to the requirements of modern traffic systems, including:

• Increased train speed;

• Increased axle load of track;

• Increased train length;

• Increased track capacity;

• Improved railway safety;

• Reduced travel time and energy consumption;

• Minimized adverse environmental impacts;

The project also includes reconstruction and construction of various structures, canopies, underpasses, culverts, and noise protection walls at stations Palić, Bački Vinogradi, Horgoš, and Hajdukovo.
